Billy,

What a great idea to open a shop. I'm totally hooked and hope I'll be able to keep up, I don't want to miss a thing.

I have my grandmother's old treadle and it's not in the best of shape. It sat in a house that had a leaky roof so it has alot of rust and the peddle is rusted so much that it won't move. I'll take a pic and post it later. The machine is a Faultless and it was purchased around 1917, according to what my mom knows about it. My grandparents were married that year and she thinks she remembers grandma saying she got it then. I've not been able to find anything on it but I'm assuming it's a knock-off from Singer. I was wondering if you know anything about that brand and could point me in the direction to get info about it. I'd like to get it working but I'm not very mechanically inclined and it would be a huge undertaking.

I'll bring my chair and some apple crumb cake. I drink my coffe really hot with Irish Creme creamer. Love that stuff! :) :)

>>But you will have to undo the wires either at the pedal or the plug what ever it takes to get it out of the hole.<<

Is this a major undertaking? I don't want to harm her irreparably. Or should I just take the cabinet in also. I live alone and it took me 3 days to find a neighbor to bring it in from the car. LOL...never a man around when you need one!!

Do you have any suggestions on finding someone locally who likes to work on vintage machines (like you)?? I haven't lived here very long and don't know that many people. I haven't a clue as to how or where to launch a search.
Thanks so much for all your help. Sure hope we don't interfere too much with your own projects.

Its a nice machine but they are misleading in the ad. That machine would not do leather (maybe the super thin stuff) anything thick or heavy it would skip stitches because of the type of machine it is (VS).

But it looks complete and I say its a great deal for someone wanting a treadle to use, and with it being a non-Singer just adds to the coolness!!

I have my stool, it will take some time to keep up on this thread. I don't collect, I just sit back in awe as Billy's brain works. As well, there are many, many of you guys that have a remarkable amount of knowledge on Vintage machines. They are go beautiful. I am happy to be included.

Hi Bill,
Thank you for setting this thread up, am enjoying reading this. I'm a new vintage sewing machine owner and will post pics later. Have a question about needlebar. I signed up on 4/20/10 and got a welcome email that said my account was currently inactive and that the admin had to approve me. I've heard nothing since. How long does it take to get approved? Hope it is ok that I asked you this here.
Thank you, Judy
