Glenn; Love the decorations on your house and porch. I'll come visit but y'all need to make unsweetened tea for me and DH. I was stationed at Ft. McClellan, AL, (Aniston) 3 times while in the Army. Remember oh so well getting lightly sweetened tea when we asked for unsweet tea. Funny now but not then. Have a great 4th of July.

She was born August 1, 1921 in NJ. She's a Singer 128, not a featherweight. (a 3/4 machine)

She is a beauty. That is the knee control lever (rather than having a foot pedal)

Ok, I'm gonna admit my ignorance! This is the same machine I picked up at the consignment store for $38. There was no foot pedal so I thought it was just missing. There is the "knee control" in the case but I didn't know what it was for.

Also, my case is really really broken on the bottom. How is the best way to repair it? The top is in good shape.

The wires are iffy so I haven't tried to sew with it but everything turns and moves well. Also, what does the bullet bobbin look like? I can't tell if there is one in there are not.

As I said, my ignorance is really showing on this machine!! :)

PS: Her SN is G9842042, born Feb 19, 1923, 15,000 allotment.

Here is a shuttle and her little bobbin. Not sure if that is the bullet bobbin you were referring to. Everyone starts learning somewhere. There are no stupid questions. Heaven knows I don't know a drop in the bucket about these machines.

Texas Jan

The bullet shuttle is what they're referring to and long bobbin.
The shuttle aka bobbin case kinda looks like a bullet.

Lee, Thank you very much for posting this photo of the bracket.
I'm going to have to keep a lookout for some type of vintage bracket. I like the look of the metal brackets!

Thanks, Texas Jan, I'll check it out. Don't remember seeing that in the bobbin opening. Are they hard to find?

I don't think so, maybe someone on the Board here can direct you.

Glenn, I love your pouch! I would be on the porch swing all day long. Thank you for your service to our country.

Miz Johnny 07-02-2011 06:05 PM

Fabulous, Glenn!! I love the front porch--it's one of the things in life I covet.
I'll be there about 12; I'll bring the potato salad.

Happy 4th to all!!

I love Treadle Lady. She has some wonderful YouTube videos about her treadle machines and I highly recommend her booklet. It is packed with information for anyone new to treadles.
