Well that just confirms what I already knew. Lots of companies made these things. Look under the bottom of it and see if there is any maker stamps. Mine is stamped JUKI on everything. Other than the lack of bed decal, and the different badge, and the SEW-MAGIC rather than the SEW MATIC your machine is the same as mine. No doubt sold by the same company as mine. That is the information I'm trying to find. A crescent wrench on the spool pin, with a second wrench to keep the first from turning while you push on it, will straighten it right up. Just used that method on a Singer 66 a couple days ago. Don't turn your back cos if you do I'll snitch that Belgelcor motor ..... and the chicken in the back ground. :D Joe |

The manual I had was more of a pamphlet than a book. I have an original with my old Sears machine - it was the same pamphlet with a different machine name. I wish I still had them both.

I did contact JUKI. I received no response. Hmmm, I thought HOTHER was the brand. But a lot of these HA-1's have that DeLuxe decal inside the pillar or on the badge. I haven't checked that name out. miuium, That is the person I'm looking for. Haven't found him/her yet. joe |

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL machine, great decals, (Miz Johnny, the bed decals are fruit) and from what I can figure out on the Yahoo Davis list database, this old girl dates back to 1881 or 82...I'm sure our Jon will be along and will correct me if I'm wrong! :) Now...I didn't know Miz D, that you picked up the Foley! Everything about this machine is interesting! It is so simple in design, yet so fabulous.
But here's the BIG NEWS! I just got all three slide plates off!!!!! Wahoo. I'm stoked. We didn't put her belt on today in case we had to take her off the table to try budging her plates. But hold your breath folks, I'm going belt her up, thread 'er up and give her a go tomoree. Obviously with the plates off we were able to access the shuttle. Indeed there is a bobbin in there but God's truth, I'm scared to death looking and trying to figure out how the shuttle is threaded. ISMACS, here I come. If anyone has experience with this type of shuttle and you feel like jawing, I'm a captive audience :-) You know, four weeks ago there wasn't a treadle in the house. Now there are, um, some. It's sorta like sauerkraut, you love treadling or you hate it. I equate it with my first experience at a Pow-Wow. The first drum beat I heard woke up my insides like nothing I have ever experienced. That is how these machines are to me. I talk about them to my 'elder' friends and they look at me like I lost it. Sorta like motorcycling - if you don't ride, it can't be explained. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight with all this excitement. Wahoo!!
