Really enjoy seeing these vintage machines. Have seen almost every one of them. Great machines. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

I have really enjoyed looking at this thread and thought I would share with you my 1920 hand Singer Y5719380, I blogged about it and how I bought it 34 years ago.

I adopted 3 machines today. This whole fascination with old machines started when I went to an estate sale and bought my first treadle. I brought it home and cleaned it up and, you're right, it's been attracting friends. So, the man who had the sale, had another sale and tried to sell the remaining machines. When they didn't sell, he called me and told me I could have the three that were left, but I had to take them all.

One is a White, although it looks like a BLACK with all the dirt and grime, frayed wires, etc. The second is a Kenmore 158.330 and the last one is an Emporium, made in Japan. I'll post over on the Machine Shop thread if anyone has comments or can tell me what kind of mess I've gotten.

Bennett has a White just like that - you might have to look at all the pages to find it on here though - she did a very nice job cleaning that one up. Those old Kenmore machines are old and reliable unless they have been abused. The Emporium is anybody's guess - clean it up and see what it does. Do all the knobs turn?

So far, all of the knobs turn. I think the two machines, the Kenmore and the Emporium by DeLuxe are very similar. Evidently, both are made in Japan. Bobbins are similar. The Emporium is the first and the Kenmore second. I haven't plugged anything in yet, and I wouldn't dare plug in the White. I have a White Rotary Treadle, and they are very similar, except this new one has the crinkle finish, but they look alike in many other ways. It is SO dirty..."Dirty White Boy..."
