The 201 is one of my favorites of all time. It looks like a really nice machine.

Very nice Standard treadle! There are several people on this board who have Standard treadles. Vintagemotif, Monica, is one. Did you get any attachments with that Standard? There is a special chain stitch attachment for Standards. Cathy, Mizkaki, should be able to answer any questions on the Standard too. Congratulations! Your decals look great - I would be very careful when cleaning that machine! Clean only with sewing machine oil so you don't silver the decals!

Thanks for the advise. I will definitely be sure to use it. I am still going through the drawers, It was stocked full with new as well as old items. Everything from patterns from McCalls to bobbins galore.

Today someone offered me a Coffin top sewing machine and sight unseen for $40 I am not going to be able to pass it up. I will get that machine on Saturday. They said if I was able to restore the cabinet of a old Playertone talking machine and bring back the beauty then I should be able to get the cabinet of this looking nice as well. So, I'll just have to see. I'll post pics as soon as I take them and find out what this mysterious beauty is.

Thanks Dan, I've been seeing everyone rave about these machine, so you know I couldn't pass it up. I hope to do some FM quilting on it.

Heather describes sewing with her 201-2 as like driving a BMW, smooth, quiet and all the power you really need to do something silly....

I have a 1936 Singer 201k-4 hand crank that I prefer to treadle, Randi lives in a Singer straight leg treadle cabinet. Its a smooth machine, nearly silent when properly oiled. It was my first people powered machine. I love piecing quilts with it, also is nice for straight line quilting, but not good for free motion quilting.

Well I am new here and have to say that I found this site while looking for information on my latest find. I collect antiques. I found this Standard treadle machine in a consignment store. I have not found much information on this one, yet. She is similar to Hollyann beautiful machine, but appears to be a newer model. The bobbin cover has multiple patent dates. Earliest one is 1889 with the latest being 1910. The machine I have has been made after that as it states Patent Applied for on the plate as well as on the inside decal. If anyone has more information I would be greatly appreciative.

Hi,

I brought a 115 machine head to the Dec 5 N. California TOGA. I did not bring the treadle base and some folks wanted to see it. Here are pictures of the 5 drawer maple cabinet that the Tiffany/Gingerbread head came in it. I bought this in MN last year. (The other two Singer treadles I have are 7 drawer oak.) I do prefer the tighter grain on the maple cabinet over the oak. I've only used sewing machine oil on the cabinet so far although I have purchased products to improve its appearance. I haven't decided if I want to mess with it or not. I tend to prefer to leave things in their original condition and I sort of enjoy the battle scars of a well loved and used machine. The pictures aren't the best since the sun in streaming in right now. It is a nice treadling machine and I mostly use it to perforate freezer paper for paper piecing since it provides such great control.

Judy beautiful machine and I think along the same lines when it comes to leaving my new treasures in the state I find them in unless its something that only going to get worst over time. I have two that one the veneer is missing in the front & a treadle where the top layer is buckled...come this spring when its nicer out I will have to decide if I want to tackle these projects. Thanks so much for sharing your treasure.

Awesome Steve, congrats!

I have emailed/PM'd Charlee and i believe at this point I am covered, so I'd say let Ms Judy have a go at them.

On a side note: On Saturday I just became a Grandpa!!

ahhh I missed this Steven, huge congrats-currently awaiting the arrival of a GS....1st boy in the family in over 50 years, ya we are alittle excited. Enjoy your new duties as Grandpa!

He brings in machines by the hundreds a few times a year, so you'd think he would want to move these sooner rather than later but apparently not. *sigh* my partner and I have made him a few offers on this lot. :(

I think he is a Hoarder & to deny that he posts for sale....that way no family intervention---- that's my imagination hard at work. Lol
