Vintage Singer Machine

I found this machine at a garage sale. I just thought it was really cute. Now I am curios as to its history.
Can anyone tell me more about it? The serial number is AE060247. I know it was built aroung 1935, but that is all I know. I am missing the cord. Thanks for any help on this. Beverly |
That appears to me to be a singer 99, it is considered a "compact" or 3/4 size machine. It uses the same bobbins as the larger 66 series machines. It is a drop in bobbin and will be a wonderful quiet durable straight stitch only machine. This machine has no reverse, never the less it will make beautiful raven stitches and the are thought very highly of by most who own them. I have 2 and like them very much. Yours appears to be in nice cosmetic shape. Read the sticky on how to clean and oil them and it should be ready to go in no time.Nice find and welcome to the world of vintage machines.

She's a pretty one!

Nice sewing machine. You will love her stitches. Power cords are available online from Sew-Classic if you don't have a reliable Sew/Vac near you.

She's a cutie!

Are you sure you have the serial number correct? I just looked on my dating site for singers and it says it's a 221. But that's not a 221......... You can check the site www.sewingshop.com/dateyourmachine.aspx
