Walking foot for vintage Singer?

I have several vintage Singers and love them. I want to do straight line quilting with them. Is there a walking foot that will work for me?

I also have several vintage singers and have found that the walking feet for current Singers (or in some cases, my Janome) will fit and work with my old ones. So just check if it uses the slant or short shaft.

I'm quilting my first QAYG on a Singer 1941 15-30. It works perfectly with the regular foot. Give it a try on a sample. You may find the walking foot isn't necessary.

As long as it's not a slant shank machine. A special foot modification is needed if it is a 301. sew-classic.com would be able to answer any questions you might have http://shop.sew-classic.com/Singer-S...?categoryId=-1

The standard short shank walking foot will work on all the Singers, except for the slant needle ones.

Thanks for the answers. I will look in my worn out Singer's case and see if I can find the walking foot I used on it. Thanks so much!

You could also try the quilting foot (if you have one). I bought a walking foot but found I got on better with the quilting foot.

I was told by my sewing repair man not to use a walking foot on my Featherweight.Too much strain on the machine. So I don't.Want her to last forever.Use a Bernina for the heavy sewing.......

I have a walking foot that I used all the time with my featherweight machine. I don't know what to make of the 'too much strain on the machine' comment. The whole point of a walking foot is to help the top fabric feed at the same speed as the bottom fabrics! See my website for these and other accessories.
