What model is this machine?

This machine is posted on our local craigslist, Singer made in Great Britain. It does come with the cabinet which I love. I really want to get a 301 which I have located but not purchased yet. Maybe the 301 will fit in the cabinet. Anyway, I really need to know what the model of this machine is.

I'm going to answer my own question. After more searching I found it is a Singer 338. I still would like to know if a 301 would fit in the cabinet, so additional research/searching will be necessary.

I have a Singer 338 in a cabinet similar to that one. It's a very good machine. ALL metal inside, NO plastic gears.
With the cams you can do a really great number of stitch patterns. Simple machines to operate.

Don't quote me, but I "think" a 301 with the short draw bridge will fit in a standard cabinet.

That's good to know. I did find a few reviews which stated it was a good machine but only made for 2 years. The 301 which I'm considering purchasing has a short draw bridge. There are just too many choices. Decisions, decisions, decision.

Decisions, decisions, decision. ........... Ain't that the truth.

The 338 may have been made for only two years, but the basic design and parts is very common. And if the one I have is any example they are not finicky or prone to breakage or other misbehaving. At least from my limited use of it.

I just contacted the seller and she indicates there is an issue with 'backstitching'. from the pics it sure seems to be in great shape including the cabinet.

Meanwhile, I may have made a very stupid mistake. I found a Singer 15, still had tags on it, itchy fingers overtook my brain, placed bid, then did research, discovered it is probably a 15NL. I'm going to stay away from bidding sites until I do more reading here.

I like the Singer 15 much better - good choice

A Singer 301 needs a "cradle" to go in a cabinet. The cradle mounts with the hinges, then the 301 snaps into the cradle. Push a lever, and the 301 pops out by the handle to go somewhere with you. You can find a 301 cradle on ebay, but be sure to get all the parts and screws as Singer screws are unique.

I'm thinking the table lip has to be just so for the cradle to fit.
