What model is this Singer and what's it worth?
 

If I managed to attach the pic, this Singer is on our CL at $75 with cabinet and "various sewing related items", whatever that means. It's a few hours from me, so I'd like to have an idea of what I'm looking at before I make the trip. This is the only picture on the listing and I know it's not great. Thanks for any intelligence you can lend.

It's looks like a Singer 99K. I have one and it sews great.

Email the seller and ask for serial number then look it up, it will tell what model it is. Also ask if the price in negociable. Could it be a 15-91 since the tension is on the side? They are great for FMQing.

It's a 15, just not sure if it's a 15-91 or another model of 15. The tension is on the side of the faceplate. The 15-91 will have a "potted" motor on the back (a black cover attached to the machine). It won't have a separate motor/belt. The 15-91s are nice machines, gear driven, vertical bobbin, takes regular 15x1 needles, short shank for the feet. I use mine the most out of all my machines. I paid about $25 for mine at an auction almost 10 years ago, and it was in almost pristine condition.

my 2 cents - if it has a belt it is a 15-90, if there is no belt and gear driven it is a 15-91. Definitely a great machine and superb for FMQ! I would think if the "sewing related items" are decent (I am presuming that they mean attachments) that $75.00 with a decent cabinet is a fair price as long as they machine itself is in good to best condition.

If it is a Singer 15-91, I would run and get it. I paid $50 for my last one and $20 for my other one that my dh bought me in 1975

This looks like the one I have of my mom`s..Singer 15-91..a great machine for piecing..mine is in a cabinet that looks like a desk..even has an ink well in one of the drawers..bought in about 1949+or - a yr..never had a thing done to it outside of me oiling it..sews beautifully..

Once you get the serial number, you can call the Singer Company at 1-800-474-6437. This will be the Consumer Affairs Division of the company. They will tell you the model number, the date the machine was manufactured, along with the city/state. When I called them about my Model #66 Treadle, it took only a minute or two for them to tell me that it was made on 8/27/1913 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. :)
