What size Needles for Old Treadle?
I was given an Old Singer treadle made in the late 1800's I think, the serial number was on the back, 3151727, I have it all cleaned up, but none of the singer needles I have will go in the little slot, the needle I took out was bent and the top of it seems to be smaller and more round than the standard singer needles, also it is longer (about 1/4") do any of you know where I could purchase needles like this? It has a round bobbin on the end (like a 15-91) but the bobbin case don't come out, you have to pull out a little finger then insert the bobbin. Thanks

Your machine was made in 1879, and I strongly suspect that the needle is not bent, but instead is curved. Check on some of the Vintage Singer yahoo groups to see if they can help you...can you post a pic of the machine? Sounds like you may have a model 24?

Thanks Charlee, I couldn't find the serial number on the Singer list. I will try the yahoo group. The needle had been in the machine a long time, it needs changed. It hadn't been used in many years. A lady at church gave it to me, she said it was her husbands grandmother's machine, he is 74 years old. I don't know how to post a picture on here.

Sent you a PM...if you can email me the pic, I'll post it for you. :)

Charlee, I emailed you a pic, it isn't too good, my camera is getting old. Thank you.

Ok...someone help me out here...I think this is an early model 15. I'll have to go check around to see what needles it takes...

Ok...I think I'm more tired than I thought I was...this isn't an early 15, it's a 9W from between 1906 to 1912, one of the machines Singer made using Wheeler and Wilson parts after they bought W&W out. :o:o:o
It's going to use a 127x1 needle, or a Boye 18 |
OK, Charlee, where can I purchase this size needle? Singer dealer? Thanks

The needle is obsolete...cruise ebay, they sell them there, and there's a new production needle that I've seen sold on ebay as well, but I don't know how well they work.
