Replace the worn part of the decal on my 15-91? An area about 5 inches on the botton is mostly worn off. I would love for it to be perfect but don't want to "dishoner" the machine/

Also, I want to begin looking for a "red" SM. I know it will probably have to be a repainted one but that wouldn't bother me if someone had restored it and painted in a RED. Red is my favorite color and I have lots of red decor in my home!!

So BOLO for a Fiery Red sewing machine.

Thanks!

i don't believe restoring your machine is a "dishonor" at all.
if you can locate newer (looking) parts to replace worn ones.

Hopefully the vintage machine police won't come get you in the middle of the night  ....only kidding, although I know that there are some out there in vintage machine land!

If the machine belongs to you then you can do whatever you want to it. It is only a machine, after all, even if it has a human name. I'm all for keeping them "as is" if they are in nice condition but if they need a paint job then great--pick your favorite color. Someday I want a machine in either sports car red or fushia

Restoration of a sewing machine is no different from restoring a classic car. Do it.
And considering how many people toss or take to the junkyard old sewing machines, I think finding one with a rough finish, and redoing it in the color of your choice is a fun idea. I bet you could find a local auto body shop that would refinish it for you for a reasonable price if you ask nice.
