Default quilting (fmq) on the 15-91

I've about made my mind up to search for a 15-91 Singer after hearing such good things about them. I already have a FW a 66 and a 99, plus a Janome 6600P which I just bought the blue bobbin holder for free motion quilting. That worked fine for me this last week, but I find my heart still yearning for the 15-91, but I just read on here somewhere that the bobbin runs out pretty fast when free motion quilting, and wonder if this is a real concern. These bobbins look like they would hold the same amount of thread as my other machines, but I haven't actually seen one in person. The additional machine to do the fmq with would have been my justification for getting one. All the other machines piece just great, and I love them all. Soooo my question is do you find your bobbins run out when using this to free motion quilt on???? Thanks for your input....Love this board and all the "smart" people on here.

I don't think mine runs out any faster than any of my other machines. I love it for FMQing! find one, quick! You will absolutely love it!

Nope, I haven't noticed that at all. Granted, I haven't done a ton of FMQ on my 15-91, BUT the quilting I have done has been a joy! I've set mine up for FMQ and the 201 does the piecing. Anything other than that is done on my other vintage machines or my lone modern one. But really, quilting on my 15-91 is just so much fun!

A class 15 bobbin holds more thread than a class 66 (model 66, 201, etc)

Price all depends on the condition and the circumstances it's for sale. I picked mine up at a garage sale for $20, but some folks are very proud of them and ask way too much. I've seen them for sale for up to $1000 - ridiculous and I doubt they ever sell at that price, but IMHO I think you can buy them easily for $100 or less in good condition.

It's the 301 bobbin that runs out quickly, not the 15. Both are vertical bobbins, so good for FMQ.

Thanks for the input...made the leap, and one should be on the way to me in the next few days. Has no cord, does the featherweight cords and foot pedal work with them????

I paid $75 for my 1951 with the centennial badge, and it's in a very nice cabinet, complete with stool. That was one of the best $75 I ever spent!!!!

I turned down one at a garage sale for $10, machine, cabinet, stool and accessories. I wonder if I should call and see if it sold.
