Laura, what a pretty, and very bright, top! Love the scrappy stars set in the pink background! I'd like to see all the finished tops! Do you machine quilt or long arm quilt? I can't remember!

Laura, that's gorgeous! What a cheerful, happy quilt! And I love your idea of stringing a wire to hold up all the finished tops. I've got mine draped over the upstairs balcony, but with one on top of the other, I don't have as good a view as you do. Good thinking!

I'm also addicted to feathers - I like other designs, but once I caught on to feathers, I tend to put them everywhere.

Thanks every one! I quilt on either my 31-20 or my 201. I have an easier time on the 201, but really want to get the treadle quilting down, as it would be a bit of exercise! Also, the throat space on the 31-20 is really big. I got the wire I string my quilts on at IKEA, in the curtain section. It also hides the rack that id filled with machines from daily view by DH, he he! Laura

The first and last commissioned quilt in my foreseeable future. Affectionately called the quilt from hell or Chris' butterfly follies. The 1st is Rebeckah sitting on the project. It is all pieced and quilted on her ~ she's a 301. 2nd pic is the 3D butterfly applique which I thought was a unique touch. It is sewed on not ironed one. The 3rd is the front of the quilt and the last is the back of the quilt. I hope the recipient likes this one. Lots of time in the quilting and cutting of fabric so not too many headless butterflies.

What a lot of butterflies! The appliques are a nice touch. I don't do commission work. In fact, I don't sell any of my work. But I do give quite a few quilts away. I figure people can't afford me.

This is beautiful! Love the use of Christmas scraps...gives me lots of ideas. Also love the straight line quilting. I'm practicing on that. I've made a couple of lap quilts (one for each of my brothers) using big patches of Christmas fabrics then straight line quilting 1/4 each side of each seam horizontally and vertically. I also tried corner to corner this time - but I love the closer straight lines of your stitches.

Oh, wow. All my machines are vintage. I have about 15 of them, including a Singer 600E, Singer 645, Singer 648, Singer 501A, Singer 221, black Singer 301, mocha singer 301, Singer 401, Singer 404, Singer 66, a 1918 Singer handcrank machine, and I can't remember what else right now! The only modern machine I have is my Brother XL 5130 - the cheapie I bought at Walmart several years ago -- and it sews great. I have made multiple lap quilts on these machines, usually have several projects going at one time. I'm going to try to figure out how to post a picture of the big patch Christmas quilt I made for one of my brothers using my Singer 648. [ATTACH=CONFIG]379141[/ATTACH]

Chris who commissioned you to make the butterfly quilt a relative/friend? Is it for a baby or little girl with a butterfly room? I love the butterfly applique's you sewed on the quilt. Is that quilt going to be a wall hanging? With the 3-d affect, it would make a beautiful wall hanging in a sun room! I can just picture the warm/bright room filled with butterflies! Great job!
