For the most part, I stay away from machines that take cams, because they are just to the "new" side for me. Though I have a few exceptions - and do have the Singers, 401 and 500 (and really want a 319).

The only concern I would have about the missing tension/thread guide, is how well the bobbins wind without it.

Bobbin wound just fine because I used the front tension guide instead. But DH and I will customize a new one before we ship it to my sis.
