Default Singer 301 owners

This person has been trying to compile information referring to our 301s. If you can, please participate. I put in all my numbers, 2 301s and 2 301As on a different Singer site and it said they were all made in 1951 which I don't believe is accurate. Thanks for your attention and hopefully your participation.

E-mail Singer301.com with your Model Number, Serial Number and Color!

Example: Singer 301A, NB500001, Black, Beige or Two-Tone

If you have a Receipt with "Date of Purchase" please submit also...Very important!

If your Singer 301 has a Centennial Blue Badge (1851-1951), please send the above information and state it has a Centennial Badge, very important in figuring how many Singer 301's actually had the Centennial Badge.

Same story when I looked up the serial number of my 401-A Slant-O-Matic. Singer's site showed all NA serial numbers as 1951.
Another site said NA was used 1951-1959. Charlee, on this board and who's knowledgeable about vintage machines, confirmed what I'd thought, which was that 401's were 1957 and 1958 manufactures. The manual with my 401-A shows Copyright 1957. "Does not compute" that Singer wouldn't have more detailed information.

You can send your information to [email protected] or visit www.singer301.com

Thanks, Ray

PS: If you have any questions about the Singer 301 or 301A maybe I can help but most of the information is already on the web site.

My number indicated a 1956 machine when I looked it up.

May I ask: What website did you use? I'm trying to get info on my 401A [my post is a couple slots above] but didn't have much luck on specifics with the regular Singer site. Thanks.

Go to http://singer301.com/dating/default.html There is a small section with 401A serial numbers.

THANK YOU! That's better 401-A information than I've found elsewhere. Since my 401-A serial number begins with NA and falls within the first numbers range, it would appear it's likely a 1957.
Thank you again for answering my inquiry about a 401 on your 301 thread.

You welcome. I wish more owners of the 401A, 403A, 500A and 503A would submit their serial numbers so that I can come up with a year of issue for them. You are correct that if you have an early "NA" serial number then your 401A was surely manufactured/made in 1957. Regards, Ray
