I just bought a Singer Genie 353 - beautiful, and great price - but have yet to use it because the bobbin is not catching. When the needle is lowered into the plate, no thread from the bobbin comes up with it. My fiance took apart the machine and traced it to a broken gear. A brown-orange round gear has been snapped in half. It is the gear that makes the round spinner in the bobbin plate turn. Here's my problem... I don't know what this gear is or where I can find a new one. If I knew the name of it then I could search for it. Anyone able to make sense of this? Thanks so much! Can't wait to actually use this little guy.
