Default Singer 301 cradle.....help!!

I found a 301 machine a while back and later found a #71 cabinet. Still later, I purchased a cradle on ebay to put them all together. Therein lies the problem. The hinge parts from the back are there, but when I put it all together, the machine doesn't sit flat. It seems to get caught up in the front lip of the cabinet. I searched the internet and found a website that talks about brackets that fit on the front part of the cabinet.....but this cabinet doesn't look like it ever had anything attached to the front. Any ideas??? I will post pictures....if I can figure out how to do so. In the meantime....thanks for any help. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn, you made me look at mine! Best pic I could get in dark garage. Yes, there is a bracket screwed into each side that the cradle hooks on at the front.

Thanks for the picture. My cabinet doesn't have those. My best guess would be that my cabinet didn't hold a 301 in it's former life. I was lucky enough to find another cradle with all the hardware on ebay. I am anxiously awaiting the new ebay cradle and I will attempt to install those brackets. Thanks again for the photo.

Glad to help. When you get the cradle with the brackets, if you need better pictures I can try.
I love my little 301, mostly use it as a portable, but is so easy to put in and out of the cabinet.
