Singer 501a
Hello everyone,
I purchased a 501A in her original case, (I've named her Honey) ALso purchased the walking foor for her but haven't used her for FMQ yet. I don't know where to start. ANy sugestions?
Do YOU have a 501A? If so please tell me what you 'quilt' with yours,
Are you pleased with it?
How do you FMQ on it? DO the feed dogs drop on these older machines?
If so pease tell me how to do it.,
Thanks everyone for all the great help!
Have a great day!

The 401 and 501 are not the best FMQing machines. You raise the plate to do this and it's not smooth. And the drop in bobbin isn't the best for FMQing. I'm not saying you 'can't' but that these machines are great all around sewing, quilting using a walking foot, and piecing machines, but for FMQing, you'd probably be better off using one of your other machines.
