Picked her up at the local flea-market for $25 Clean as a whistle, and purrrrrrs like a

I have a 1956 185K, and I love using it. I have trouble with the plate covering the bobbin. Do you have that problem too? Enjoy.

Probably not sitting all of the way in the spring, to take it off you have to pull it back a tad then lift the front and push it over the needle plate. Then take a small screwdriver and help the spring into both sides of the plate. Also while you have it off you can clean the area up a bit just in case there was dust or dirt under it or in the area of the plate.

YES! I got the bobbin plate off to fill the bobbin....now it does NOT want to go on ...sits a little loosely over the hole.
Maybe it's operator error on my part

The plate has to go on from right to left-I know it sounds wrong. Start from the needle side and using Billy's instructions from above for the spring, push it to the left. It may take more than one try. Good luck!

Yeah Singer did that so you would not yank it off everytime you opened the plate to change the bobbin.
