Default Singer Cams

Are all the flat cams interchangeable? Are all of the top hat cams interchangeable?

I have all the top hat cams that came with a Touch and Sew 778 (both black and white). The cam in the recently acquired 503 is black and looks the same as the Touch and Sew cams.

I have a 328k that has a flat cam. There are cams on ebay that look the same, but do not list the 300s as users, but rather the 400s. Are they the same?

Can someone enlighten me?

I have a 401 with "top hat' cams. Not sure about the others since haven't had an issue. I guess you would have to Google or go to a forum/site that specifies 401s. I just Googled and some vary.

yes, the top hat cams for the T&S will work in the 503. The exception is the basting cam, as it has the ability to skip stitches, and the 500 series will not do that.

I think the flat cams are the same between machines too. the 400 takes top cap cams, not the flat ones that the 300 group (like 309, 319, 328 take). the 400 takes the same as the 500 and newer groups.

The white top hat cams won't work in the 503. That's the only exception.

Pennycandy, thanks for the link to the cam chart! It clears up some of the questions I had!
