I found this machine for $10 when I plug it in it seems to work. I'm trying to find somewhere local (Tacoma, Wa area) to have it serviced and have been trying to find the cover plate for the bobbin area online with no luck. Can anyone recomend sites?

Thanks
Ginger

Go to the Vintage Sewing Machine Shop topic in the Main Section. Someone will know where you can get the bobbin plate and can even tell you how to find out the year it was alloted!!

Beautiful!! That was my first vintage machine, also. It's a model 66 with the Red Head or Red Eye decal design. Here is a video showing how to thread and use that model.

In the video she also explains why there are a lot of 66's, out there, that are missing the bobbin slide plate and also explains the way to get them back on. good luck!!

Thank you for this link! My 66's have both their plates but it's nice to know how to put them back on if they ever come off and the tension adjustment is invaluable info to me! Thanks again!

Look up the model using the serial number and check out vintage singer machines on the web. They have a website that gives the model and year made. I found several pieces for machines my sons bought me on Ebay at really good prices. Check carefully because prices vary quite a bit. Just keep checking until you find a price you want to pay
Good luck!

I don't live in the area so don't have a recommendation for a shop. But I do recommend that you try and clean the machine yourself. It is easy and Billy's tutorials are very clear.

These old machines are great and easy to work on. Save the expense and enjoy the bondng experience with your new treasure.
