The 306 has zigzag and capacity for decorative stitches using a flat cam (attached by the large silver nut, upper-right corner of the machine in the photo). It takes the still-available but harder-to-find and more expensive 206X13 needles; there is a modification to allow it to take the more-common 15X1 needles, which is subject to some controversy. I like the 306 a lot; it's simple, reliable and makes a soft, pleasant, clackety-clack when it runs because of its internal-drive cleated belt. The machine in the photo is black, not green.

The black-and-gold 306s are the most sought after. If you prefer green, you might want to keep an eye out for its close relative, the 319, which has an internal camstack for decorative stitches, operated by the "typewriter keys" on top:
