Sometimes it takes a lot to just get rid of one, but sometimes it is necessary to do. I am glad you put it gently in the garbage can.

I learned to sew in high school on a T and S and thought they were the greatest, so found one years later and I liked it as well, then we moved and it had to go. Now I will find another some day. Diff. people have diff opinions on sewing machines, and most anything else, just opinions, I ask then make my own judgments.

I bought a 750 early on, I fiddled with it, fiddled some more, decided it needed more parts than I wanted to spend money on, took some parts, slid it in the trash.

I'm ASSUMING this is a 620 based on the front of the manual visible in the box from the family member. So far it's just a picture, grubby and unloved. We will see.

Machine numbers bigger than 600 or 603 had plastic gears

I had to chuckle. You definitely do need a manual. I need a cord and controller for my Rocketeer. Thanks for reminding me. I gave a 750 T&S away and it was a wonderful machine. There is usually something wrong with the ones I have found in the thrift shops, like missing pieces. I'm still trying to find a bobbin retainer for the green one. The 4-pin controllers aren't interchangeable on all T&S machines, which was rather surprising. I have a manual now though.

The 630 and 640 use a different plug/controller set up than the others. Those two models are the only ones(in that era of machines) that have a speed control slider on the controller.

I gave the touch and sew back to my daughter and told her I didn't want any plastic machines. I have to get fussy sometime. It is a room issue.
