Son picked this up in a yard sale for a few dollars.

Only thing we see on it which is faded is the word MARVEL. There are no numbers or other written info.

It appears to have been a treadle machine because of the hand turn where a belt would have gone.

My mom had a machine similar to this that had the belt and sitting in her table with a treadle foot below it.

If anyone knows anything about this my son would appreciate it.

I don't know much either - I picked one up just like it today. I can try to post a picture - it failed. I'm not so good at pictures with this new format. My 'new' machine is called a Vintex - it was made for Sears. I think there is another one similar to yours and mine on the Vintage Sewing machine Shop - someone posted it today along with some info.

Where do I find the Vintage Sewing Machine Shop you mention above?

By the way son gave $4 for it.

I saw an old machine in cabinet, well cared for, for only $8.00 on Sat. It had M/W on it. have to look that one up, not sure what it stands for though.

Its a National, you can tell by the round plate up by the hand wheel. I don't know much more, but someone else in the vintage sewing machine shop section probably does.

It might stand for Montgomery Ward.
