Interesting that the machine was made in Japan but the foot pedal was made in Italy.

I have that same exact machine:> It's cute. I have the original box for it and the machine's handles are still in the original plastic, so it wasn't used much. I had two at one point, but sold the one that wasn't in as good condition.

I have a late 70's Elna Lotus just like it. It is about the size of a toaster, and excellent for taking to class. As a matter of fact, I read that this machine ( but the Lotus) is in the Metropolitan Musesum of Art because of its unique design. If this machine is anything like my Lotus, someone should snap it up. A very dependable little machine!!

I also own a lotus and this machine doesn't compare in quality...however, it's a neat addition to a collection. It's a bit loud and vibrates and isn't Elna quality, but they copied the Lotus design and made it fun and funky.

Candace and Quiltmom04, I have a chance to buy a Lotus quite cheaply, so your comments caught my eye. Candace, are you saying that the Lotus is not Elna quality, or that you have that other knock off and it is not Elna quality? Just curious whatever either of you (or anyone else!) has to say about the Lotus. I was considering buying it and tinkering it up to snuff and gifting it to a teenager. Many thanks if you have input!

A Lotus is made by Elna. It's one of my favorite travel machines. Of course I'm talking about the old Lotus, not the new one:>
