Yes, that's definitely a decorator piece. It looks to have either been spray painted black or in a FIRE!

You know, all my life I have been absolutely STUPID. Whenever I sell something, I try to make it look nice when I advertise it. I am so dumb! How could I waste my time that way?

An OAK sewing machine goes with that magical cabinet. I suppose that you would need porcupine quills to use as needles in an antique oak sewing machine.
