Speaking of dragging a machine behind a truck .....

I turned on the TV last night and an episode of Sienfeld was playing. It was the one where Newman's mail truck dragged an old Singer across the road. Oh the humanity.

You mean other than it hanging half off the hinge, and no door support for the top leaf?

And it is a Sears Kenmore not a Singer! The exact model that I learned to sew on by the way!

i have one in a very similar table and it doesn't have a support for the leaf either. Doesn't look like it ever had one either . . .

It's almost worth setting up an appointment to have them show me how it works....

(no, i never got a reply back from the previous genius)
That would be interesting. I'll bet threading it would take a lot of time. LOL

You could also ask them to send you a picture of the Free Singer Sewing Machine that goes with this Kenmore and cabinet.

A few weeks ago I was looking through the CL ads and came across someone selling a "Singer Sewing Machine Cabinet" with no machine. I noticed that it was a Kenmore cabinet with the square corner openings for the machine just like this one. It turned out to be WAY to far for me to go and it wasn't what I was looking for. I did let the seller know that I believed that it was a Kenmore cabinet and not a Singer cabinet. She wrote back and was quite nasty about my intrusion and gave me a piece of her mind to boot. I replied with an apology. She again replied back but this time she said that she checked again and it was a Sears/Kenmore cabinet. She said that she saw the "S" and assumed that it said that was a Singer cabinet. I can only imagine how mad I would have been if I drove an hour each way for it and it was not what she had advertised it to be.

You just have to wonder sometimes where people park their brains. Did she apologize? probably not. It seems they are all out to get rich from old stuff and some of the stuff should never be saved. Now singers in my opinion are the best made, but then there are the Pfaffs and Berninas. Don't own one but would like to just to compare. I have a Juki and a few other odd ones.
