I find that interesting too. From looking at the cabinet, one would think it would hold just the machine and not box and machine. Clever design that some person came up with. I was going to say some man, but I prefer to think it was a woman!!!

I've not included his # for obvious reasons. Nancy, and others....road trip???

I would love to see it in person, as long as I look and don't buy. Okay maybe just one item!

Here's a second listing for this collection: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANTIQUE-CHIL...item2c63bcc8f5

Here it sounds like he's selling most the collection bundled. Wow....wish I had the money to bid on this....someone is going to get some great machines, spool cabinets and original antique needles.

Well, I was given two Singer 31's yesterday with one cabinet. The cabinet had the treadle wheel removed and electricity added. I really wish the wheel had not been removed as I'd like to set up the 31 as a treadle. I haven't been able to clean them up, check them out much. My neighbor delivered them last night so they got put in the garage, but it did appear one of the machine could work if I only had the treadle wheel! I will check them out today and post pictures. They are in pretty bad shape - came from as estate with lots of antiques! They were given to me for free - my first free machines! I only agreed to take them because the neighbor said they were upholstery machines, and I was thinking I could mend tack with them. I was hoping they were old leather machines, but they are 31s!

Nancy
Nancy, the person I got a 31-15 from last week had used it to sew leather as well as upholstery. He even demonstrated on leather for me. The machine I have is set up with a 1/4 horsepower engine, and speeds through whatever... The machine has been serviced, so I do not need to do that. But the surface has a lot of grime, and the table it is in needs some work. I would like to treadle it. Are the irons on yours similar to irons on a non-industrial machine?

That's quite the collection. I wonder how high the reserve is.

Anyone need a ruffler attachment for a vintage Brother machine? There is one here on CL that I would be happy to get for someone. It's nice...original box, and instruction book included.
