Click on "Single Letter Prefix"

Click on "G Series" and find your number on the PDF file that comes up.

This tells you that your serial number was alloted on Dec 24,1919, in St. Jean, Quebec...there were 50,000 machines in that run of numbers. :)

After seeing everyone's machines, I decided to look mine up. I have my Grandma Mary's Singer. The serial number is AG676415, when I looked it up it's a 201 from 1946. I looked at the manual and it looks like it will do alot. I need to see which attachments I have and how to use them.

I also have a Kenmore that belonged to my other Grandama. I can't find any model numbers on it. Any idea's where to look?

My husband and I have been thinking of buying an older machine, he wants to do some heavy duty sewing as he is affiliated with the SCA (he's into blacksmithing, etc) ...

Anyway I digress ...after seeing everyone's machine ... I decided to bite the bullet and go buy one we had seen previously.

I'm posting pictures ... I know this machine was made from 1911 to 1917 (not 100% sure on the ending year), but finally found a model number. I'm slightly upset that someone messed up the cabinet (as it's not working correctly, but that's what my hubby's for). The stained the cabinet and got it into the chain that works the machine up and down ... plus a few other places (hubby is not happy at all).

ANYWAY ... here are pictures:

ANYWAY the model number we found is 172203.

Any more info on this would be appreciated. We're still doing research. We purchased this at an antique store for $75. They had a older singer (electric) for $45. We also went to Goodwill today where we found an Alden (with the certificate from 1950) along with tons of accessories for $100 (priced for $200 but today they had 50% off). I wanted it but couldn't afford it ... they also had two other ones, one was a production factoryline Singer (badly in need of major TLC, needed rewiring) for $25 and we almost bought it, but felt we didn't have time or money to invest in it.

Hubby is very interested in finding manuals and needles for this. The one we bought is in pretty decent condition ... just needs a bit of work ...

So tell me what you think about Franky :D

Its very nice and the "Scarab"decals are in really good condition also! Give me a bit and I will figure out a few things about the machine.

I am up to my armpits in things going on around here at the house. Even at 10:30 at night. :roll:
