I sewed on this machine as a child, well actually just played with the treadle peddle!! I don't know if I actually sewed fabric, But it sat in her kitchen and I remember that well!

Okay the very first thing you need to do is put equal parts of Gin, Vodka, Rum, Triple Sec, 1/2 part Bourbon, top of with Sweet and Sour mix and a splash of Cola and you will be ready for the next part.

The cabinet will need to be reveneered which is not easy but its not hard. The Treadle is a late model one (somewhere in the 30's or 40's) so you might want to think about buying another cabinet. The irons are really neat looking when they got to the later ones.

The machine will be easy to fix just follow my tutes and that will take care of it.

All in all it just needs is love!!

(Nice machine though :-D :-D :-D )

I found one!!!

Today my DD & I stopped at one of the antique stores in town and there she was. She has been used and abused but I see a beauty in her. She is a Singer treadle, #27-4, #D1283866, and she came with original manual and attachment booklets, and several attachments, plus cabinet. I took oodles of pics before I broke her down (as much as possible some of the screws are frozen), and willl go to town tom. to get a few things Billy recommended to clean her.

They had a $75 price on her and as I walked over to the clerk, she said she was on sale and I could have her for $50. I said sold! I probably could have gotten her a bit cheaper, but there were other women eying her.

Hi Charlee!

Yes I will remove the paint and take her back to her original look. The cabinet is reallly in good shape-no bad chips, gouges, scratches, will just need some light sanding, so shouldn't be too hard.

There's a tutorial on Needlebar for refinishing (or refurbishing) cabinets...you want to be really careful of using sandpaper on the veneers....they tend to be really thin and don't take well to sanding.

You're going to have so much fun! Did you test her out before you tore down? Does she sew?

I bought another vintage machine from Craigslist yesterday for $75. It works wonderfully and is in excellent condition. The only thing missing is the bobbin holder and bobbins. And I may have found replacements, but not sure. The serial number is:H131102.

I am running out of room in my home! LOL!!

My grandson, Gabe, loves to look in the drawers of my machine.

Wvdek,

I love your machine! I can't wait to see what it looks like when you are done.

Our local antique store has 5 old treadle machines. It was so hard not to add another one.
