I am bummed. I bid on and won a 99K from 1955 on e-bay. Picked it up today at PO, ran errands most of day, got home, opened her up, and you guessed it - DAMAGED. Not real noticeable until you get her in the right lite and then there it is - a crack from front to along base of pedastal all the way through with a big old paint chip off down to bare metal. I cannot tell if damage was old or new, but I can tell you it was not noticeable in pics or represented by the seller. I have sent him an e-mail. Machine was insured so that may save my bacon.
As some may know, I have waited a long time to find a 99K and a FW from 1955, the year I was born. What a bummer! And with my camera being broken, I cannot take pics. AAARRRGGHHH! Ok, I am done venting. Thanks.

Wvdek,
So sorry to hear about your sewing machine. That is so unfortunate and such a disappointment. We will keep you in our thoughts.

Boy Oh Boy!!! Do I know how you feel !! That has happened to me twice. If the seller won't refund get ahold of Ebay. The Will help you resolve it. Anne

Sorry to hear about your machine. I have gotten three machines off e bay and so far they have come through with flying colors. We sent them an e mail telling them to be sure and pack it well and one came wrapped in egg crate foam. Came from Canada. I have a little machine called BelAir and it is a Bantam just like the 99K and I love it. Again sorry for your luck.

I'm so sorry too. But if you get your money back and you get to keep the machine too, you might want to consider sending it to Billy and maybe he can fix it for you. After all he is a genius when it comes to restoring machines.

He is a genius, but the crack is all the way through the metal. Don't think he can fix that. I dunno if he can fix that, maybe. we shall see what seller says.

I think I read on here somewhere that Billy was able to weld some of the machines that had cracks. I'm sure he will answer your post as soon as he reads it.
