OK, I'm coming out of the closet here. I have been trying to read this ENTIRE thread and am now giving up!!! I did make it to the mid-200's though. Y'all keep this thread moving!
I do not have a vintage machine yet but am looking for (I think) a 201. I have a cabinet from MIL that I have seen with various 201's but she ditched the machine ages ago because it was so heavy. So I want to put one back in it.
I'm not sure what age of machine to hunt though. She got it in the late 40's and I like the scroll plates better. But, I was born in 1952 so it might be cool to have one my age. Then there are the Centennials.
Anyway, I told DH that this is like all the cats we have had through the years - you don't really have to look too hard as they will find us :-)

Singer actually advertised the 201 as the finest machine manufactured by Singer. I have yet to get a 201, but you are right they seem to find us. I started out just getting one treadle, now I have over 20 vintage machines! The sad thing is, I have no desire to quit!

DH just called from a thrift shop in a town close by our town telling me they had a '301' for $10.00. He wanted to know if he should buy it and I told him of course buy it.
He said it's the mocha color. Other than that I know nothing about the shape it's in or whatever but he has a really good eye when it comes to machines so I'm hopeful it's in good shape. I forgot to ask if it came with a cabinet or not. I was so excited I forgot to ask anything but color.

A lovely 201 is on my wish-list. I am looking for a just-right treadle with a combination of head and cabinet that speaks to me. Oh, and I would like a 28....um...Santa??
