I have a chance to buy a singer treadle at a very reasonable price. It needs a belt , needle goes up and down smoothly with small wheel. Will need some cleaning, tlc and I hope, from the way it looks, the bobbin case is in good shape. Needs oiling. The serial #Ad180687. Four drawer, no center drawer.

You have a Singer Model 66 with 35,000 of them allotted on July 8 1930. The blue machine that I just posted a pic of was from 1932, both are wonderful machines and they sew so smoothly.

The 66 is one of my all time favorite machines to use.

I have so many machines that I just quit counting and I do not see an end in site. I will say that I am only buying the best of the best now so the buying has slowed down quite a bit. but I still pick up the run of the mill 66 and 201 to repaint and sell to quilt shops along with my FW's I do.

I always tell my family and friends all my machine collecting and refurbishing keeps me out of the pool hall. They just look at me like I've already lost it. Oh well, I'm doing what I love and it's not hurting anybody (maybe spending some of their in heritance) lol

This manual is for the New High Arm Davis. If you have any attachments, this manual shows instructions on their use. The gauge/self-sewer has two pieces that attaches to the foot and screws onto the bed at the other end. My two pieces were not together when I purchased the machine; so, I didn't know that they went together until I read this manual. This is a wonderful attachment to have, makes great 1/4 inch seams. Here is a picture of that attachment.

This morning I started on the cleaning process of the Davis VF I got last week. It's real grungy but I have her oiled and soaking and there are a few decals starting to show through that we didn't realize were even there. I'll post pics later. Forgot to take before pic of cabinet before DH took it apart cause I'm gonna end up with a Frankenstein cabinet for the Davis due to it's really bad shape but it will look great when he's done. He works wonders with wood.
Wish there was a magic potion (besides elbow grease) to dip the old machines in and zap all that yukky stuff off. I'm not endowed with lots of patience but I'm working on it.

Billy, your repaint is gorgeous. Makes me wish I'b picked up the three I saw last week that looked too far gone.

Duh... yes, of course. Thanks! That's the best solution. Much easier than messing with the motor. I wish the 15's cabinet would fit in the space I have, but it doesn't. So I have to swap the heads out. And yes, (I forget who mentioned this) I will double check that the machine hinges line up, etc. Before I dismantle the world. lol. I'm so getting into this!
