Billy, you are quite the character! I always figured you just liked the 50's era! But, I guessed you a little older than you are!

Nancy
The 50's were a great decade. I'm a Dec. '53 model, myself :D

I haven't read this whole thread, as it's a bit long, but was wondering how I can accurately date my machine? I tried Google, but nothing specific came up.
You have a Model 28 with 20000 of them allotted on March 30 1903.

Billy
Stummel...for future reference you can date your Singer machines on this site: http://www.singerco.com/support/serial_numbers.html

I love the little kitty in your avatar!!

He is checking it out for me and more than likely sending me another one.

I've been given a White treadle with coffin cabinet and can't find the serial number anywhere!! It needs parts (like the knob for the tension) and a manual. Any suggestions on that serial number location?

I have had a few of the 319s; right now I have a black one in the electric parlor cabinet. They look so cool, but somehow I just can't bond with them. However, I have a 306 in a trapezoid cabinet that I just love. Go figure.
