Buslady, the pencil thing with your side winder sounds pretty innovative! Glad you found something that works for you!

Julie, so far you are the only one that has success with the Wal Mart bobbins working on the bobbin winder post! I wonder what bobbins you purchased?

Billy that is a very pretty quilt! I love the purple flowers!

Glenn, your Blackside is very cute!

Sharon, I am going to find a tapestry needle and try the dental floss for attaching the belts! And Sharon, you are right they are Dritz bobbins not Ritz!

Monica, I am not starting a list of the 328's, just curious as to the year of yours since you said it has plastic.

I have four machines and all of them are now considered vintage. Each of these machines has its use so I keep them all. My first machine was The Little Touch & Sew Singer model 67A3. Sold as a child's machine but it do any light weight straight stitch job there is. It is a electric, battery and hand crank model. My second machine was the Kenmore 3/4 size portable 158.10401. It is the one with the roses on the clam shell case. S/N 0003334. I got it in 1974. It is a work horse. Sears says it was made by Jaguar/Maruzen. My third machine is my favorite. It is a Winselmann made in Germany. It's S/N is 165773. The model is Hera. It can be used as either a hand crank or a treadle machine. I would love to know more about this machine. It has the long bobbins and I have never used the machine, thought in my cursory survey every thing seems to be in working order. My latest purchase was a Singer Slant-O-Matic 403A for $20 in the cabinet. S/N NB176382 so it should have been made in 1956. I love it. I need the knee bar for it .

Some Model 66's are finicky about what bobbin you use on it and only a Singer brand will work on them. I have at least 5 cases of bobbins that are Singer brand just for that reason. But the way to tell is the bobbin winder, if it will not wind it worth a hoot then it will not like the bobbins.

Billy
Good tip... I have an older 66, and have used the bobbins that came with it (was my grams). But now that I have several old singers, there are all kinds of bobbins floating around in my sewing room. Good to know how to check...

Hi all... I've been 'gone' for several weeks. Gosh! What a lot of new and great machines/info. fun.....

My husband has become ill with some sort of spinal bone disease, infection or ??? and the Drs. cannot figure it out. We've got 5 specialists now, and a bone biopsy looming this week.

My 'attendence' here will be spotty, to say the least.

Billy... .I have not forgotton your 301. Still collecting boxes and peanuts for it.

Hi Julie,
Welcome to the Vintage Sewing Machine Shop and thank you for posting pictures of your sewing machines. I love the thought that you use them for different applications :) I am sure someone will be able to help you with the Winselmann's Hera. We have some pretty knowledgeable people who are fantastic at sewing machine research.
