Monica, is that your Graybar? I'd like to see a picture of the machine. I almost bought a Graybar a while back -- I didn't buy it. Anyway, I found a Graybar at an antique shop in a small town near here -- passed it up -- then saw it on Craigslist last week. The Graybar had been $50 in the Antique shop but only $20 on Craigslist! Did you buy it?

No those series of photos are my National Two Spools. I have it always sitting out ready to use in my sewing area. Here is a picture of my Graybar that I picked up for free. The machine needs new wiring, which I will never get around to doing. It now sits on my shelf looking pretty, but its real job is a parts machine. I swapped out a couple of rusty parts from it to use on my Two Spools. The second photo is the Graybar plate with take up in the same location as Sew Wishful's machine. The bottom photo is my Two Spools.

Gorgeous machine and cabinet. Lucky you! You have a piece of your family; I bet your great grandmother would be extremely happy to see that her machine was still in the family. Get some sewing oil, give it a good oiling, and start sewing with this beauty. Do you have the manual? Sorry I can't tell you anything else, but someone else here should be able to help you.

treadlep, your Richmond machine is another National - yours has a Vindex top V tension, whatever that means. It looks a lot like my 1928 Leader, though yours could be a few years older. It is a very pretty machine with a lovely cabinet. It will take a slightly longer needle than what is currently available.

I wonder why some manufacturer isn't retooling a machine a making those needles as so many machines are in use that need them.

Rose, would the Elx 705 needles be long enough? I use them in my Compulock and CoverPro which both need that tad extra length.

Good morning, everyone. I have a question...I was given a 15-91 but it does not have the wooden (?) base or case. I don't necessarily want to put it in a cabinet. Is there someone who can make a base for me or where I can buy one? The sweet lady who gave it to me told me that the "coffin top" cases do not work with it.

Any suggestions?

Goodmorning from the storm torn south!!! We are still having the severe weather but at least I have power, thats more than I can say for a lot of folks around me that have trees in their homes from last night. Yeah over 6" of rain in places here in the city and almost a foot total since this garbage started last week, so if you sneeze wrong a tree will fall over. :roll:

First off there are some really nice machines that has popped up here lately and you guys are doing great at finding them. Secondly Thank You so much for helping me tend to the shop while I have all of this weather and weather related damage to deal with. You guys are the greatest!!!! After all this is a family owned and operated shop and the love here shows! :D

While I have been absent I have added a few machines to the array I need to post about, but none of them are treadles. I know "How dare he.............." :mrgreen: These are a pair of Kenmores and they date somewhere in the 60's (havent taken the time to date them yet) and both use cams. One came fully loaded with everything including the accessories and the other had a few bits with it but both were in cabinets. Unfortunately both do not run and need a full service including replacement motors (see why I like treadles :lol: ) but should be two really nice machines.

I have a soft spot for the Kenmores because it was the machine of choice for my mom. Funny how something so small can mean so much.

I will try to check in ever so often today since we are having bad storms still. Hopefully I will have electricity...... But I have 30 something PM's to weed through and I have to get some limbs out of my yard when it stops raining.
