Busy day here. I'm late to the party, but I want to add my kudos to Glenn for the beautiful job on the 128 case. I'd like mine to look half as good. I like your pretty faceplate, too. Mine is just striated black, but I still love the cute shape of the machine.

Texas Jan, I used Evaporust on a rusted faceplate and needle plate of an old 66's and it really did a nice job. I am not sure if you want to use it on the entire SM or not as it probably will take off the existing finish.

Can any one help l have friends who have a Weltheim sewing machine with a boat shuttle and we cannot get the machine to pick up the thread we do not have a book either l have pictures of the shuttle and machine we don't know any thing about it can you please help we also have lots of feet we don't know what they are

I don't think we would use any of the vintage machines we already have but may wait to buy a couple for low prices and experiment. My DH said he thinks he can do that.

They are being stretched by Rick of WOW Quilts, just googled and found is website along with a message about stretching Singer 201's.... <http://www.wowquilts.com/aboutus.htm> I got a quote from him to stretch mine but shipping to/from Australia was way too much...oh well!!! LOL
Here's a couple of photos, look along the top cover for an insert which is about the only visible evidence the machine is anything other than stock standard.
Billy and Glenn, would be interested to hear your thoughts too? I think (given the correct tools and workshop) this could be done easily, problem is I don't have this access these days. Oh well dreaming is free!!

Thank you for your help l at last got it sewing right just before they made the 3 hour trip home it was a fun day showing them my vintage machines and trying to figure how to thread and sew with this machine they bought in a shop, no book and l couldn't find out anything on the internet for them so l was very happy to at last get it working for them.
