You didn't tell us what you own now: the cabinet and the machine that needs to be reassembled.
If it is a Singer 66, 99, 15, or 201, this site may be of help to you in reassembling the machine.

I did find a lotus 66 on CL. But the lady wants 225 for the machine and cabinet. I think it is way to much. I would rather pay that much for a machine head that is really good working order.
As far as getting the one back together. I am very bad about starting a project and never finishing. I tend to get bored. I know I should probably try again.
Watch for another 66. Haunt the antique stores and thrift stores. There's a brown lotus here in town that they want $45 for (I think that's what it was anyway), no cabinet, no attachments, just the machine. Decals are in so-so shape. I'd pick it up for you if you wanted me to... it's also a 66....I have no real idea if it works or not...I'd check that out first.

The base is cool. It has "Vertical Feed" in the foot pedal, and the decals on the circular part of the back of the base also say "Vertical Feed". The flywheel on the base has stars at the "intersections", and the sides both have the name "Davis" cast into them.
My "detective work" leads me to believe that this machine is from between 1885 (the last patent date on the slide) and 1890 when the factory first fired up in Dayton, Ohio, since "Watertown, NY" is also on the slide plate, and that's where the Davis company first started. They made the decision to move in 1888, when the city of Dayton offered them big bucks to move there.

O.K. ya'll....I need some help. I had a gal contact me yesterday in regards to an ad I have on CL. She told me she had a "remarkable" FW that looked brand new in case. That the foot pedal was still in the cardboard box. It looks unused(so she says). She told me she's losing her home, if she can't come up with some quick cash, and is selling off her items.
She's asking $140. She told me she saw online they were going upwards of $500 in the condition hers was. She gave me the serial # and it's a 1937 machine(I looked it up). I asked her to send me a few pics. She was able to send me two dark pics and I believe she's led herself to think it's a FW, but the scroll plate etc. look like a 201.
Now, here's the deal. I've not really desired a 201, but I don't have one, and could rationalize adding an almost brand new 201 to my collection. I know she needs the money. But, what's a reasonable offer?
She's asking $140. She told me she saw online they were going upwards of $500 in the condition hers was. She gave me the serial # and it's a 1937 machine(I looked it up). I asked her to send me a few pics. She was able to send me two dark pics and I believe she's led herself to think it's a FW, but the scroll plate etc. look like a 201.

I paid $40 for 201 in the bentwood case with the beautiful handmade oak sewing table made for it to sit in.

I don't want to rip her off, but this machine hasn't been on my wish list either. Actually I'd prefer one of the newer 201's that has the more angular looking body...

I don't want to rip her off, but this machine hasn't been on my wish list either. Actually I'd prefer one of the newer 201's that has the more angular looking body...
