But, again with the clones, I would be using an electric machine with the speed problem - sometimes I get heavy on the gas pedal!

I have this machine in yellow, and hunted a long time to find a GF one just like it, as she constantly tried to get mine!! It is one of my favorite machines to sew on. It originally came as electric, which I of course removed, and I have used it both as a treadle and a handcrank. It's the same bed size and pin distance as Singer, so works in a Singer treadle and the repro HC works great on it. It also has dropping feed dogs. The price is a bit high, but if I were in the market for a good class 15 machine, this would be it.

Singer 27, serial 15318008, which puts it at 1898. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it. Right now it and the Red Eye I found last weekend are standing guard next to my fireplace.
I found out 2 things today: My expression must be pretty terrible when shop owners pull out the Windex bottle and insist on "cleaning up the cobwebs," because I was rapidly reassured it was only water. Also, my mother is an enabler, no question about it.

My neighbor just gave me this machine. It's a White 77. It belonged to his aunt and he's had it in his house taking up space for a loooong time and wanted it to have a good home. It's in a neat desk with lots of unusual compartments, with all original attachments and manual. The cert. with it says it was sold in 1951. It's in excellent condition from what I can see in my fairly dark garage. When it warms up I'll play with it. The manual says it takes White Rotary needles. Are these special needles? Anyone have this machine?
