Some people just have no idea, lol.....I love these old machines and would never do one like that. If they don't want them they should give them to someone who does.

Check this out: It would make a super present for someone: the machine book is for a class 16, don't know if they would work for others....but I will say I saw the empty suitcase listed as for a FW of course! for $250..on the same search....

I hadn't really thought about that before, but it makes sense, especially in a treadle machine.

That sure looks like a 28, but I couldn't be sure without measuring it or comparing it to a full sized 27!

It's so cute, I am *wanting* it to be a 28!

I'll be making the long drive tomorrow to pick up the Davis treadle, and am trying to make sure I have everything I need to have a safe, secure trip. As I've mentioned before, I will be using a Geo Metro hatchback. I've put the back seat down.

I found this, with directions how to take the head out.

I have the flat and Phillips screwdrivers. Someone said big pillows, ziplock bags - anything else?

I am still worrying about the fact that I think it should be a coffin top. Will I be able to fit the cabinet, head and coffin top along with my sister?

You will manage it. There may be room to stand the machine up behind the front seat - you never know. Then put the machine under the coffin lid in the very back. Some times you have to turn them up side down - careful of the hinged lid if there is one. It if is up side down the machine and lid will fit in there between the legs mos likely.

I went to the first auction ever in my life. Stood around for 5 hours before they auctioned off 100+ machines. Some were too rich for my tight wad blood. Then they did a choice thing. I got 9 machines total. Then the auctioneer got tired so he says $5 each takes all - well that was going to be $300 and half of them were plastic machines and then there were cripples and some that maybe could be combined to make one machine - no foot controls parts missing and who knows if they worked, so I had to force myself to pass - there were some more I would have liked to have gotten for parts. Oh well. What made me sick was the Amish guy bought them and tossed them in the back of a pick up truck. Then he tried to buy a couple I picked up - I'm hanging on to them. I don't even know for sure what I have - they are going to the shop some time tomorrow. I guess the Amish guy doesn't need foot controls... Then I was standing around waiting to see what else was coming up and the DIL of the deceased said they took all the good machines to Indianapolis to an auction..... a couple weeks ago..... ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
