Ahhhhhh, now I want a 501A, too!! I like Buzz! I've got to get organized before I can add another machine. Merry Christmas to all my new friends at the VSMS. I never had any interest in the antique machines until I came here...now I have 7!!!!!!

Nanamoms, I never thought I wanted one of these "newer" machines! 
I was perfectly happy with my old black girls, altho I do have a Kenmore that takes cams, I never used it much.
Then I saw that 403 and simply HAD to have it!! Couldn't tell you why, but I did, even after passing by several in the past. Then I saw Buzz on Craig's list and showed the ad to the spousal unit...and I suspected he might have gotten it for me when I saw the ad on his computer. Even tho I suspected, this morning there was no machine cabinet with a bow on it in the house..so I assumed that I didn't get it. Then he had me open a package...and in the package was a foot controller. He asked if that was the one I needed? (I've had my eye out for a black controller for my 201, which came to me with a color white replacement controller.) I still didn't catch on and told him "No...this plug is wrong for the 201...but maybe we can rewire it?" He sighed and said, "Well...maybe it'll fit the machine that's out in the storage unit then..." ~laffin~ I made him go get Buzz right then and there!

Has anybody here gone to Ray White's classes??? Pricy. Is it worth the money???

It's a New Home Model A-1. This particular model was a transitional one. The very early ones had a boat shuttle, but the majority of them have the vibrating (bullet) shuttle. I've only seen one with a boat shuttle. I have a nice one in a parlor cabinet sitting right next to my computer. I gave a lot for this one, because the pittypat factor was sky high.
According to Charles Law, "The oldest versions of this model have a low-mounted bobbin winder and high mounted pick-up hook. The newest versions have a high mounted bobbin winder and low mounted pick-up hook." I believe you'll find this machine to be made before the 1890's, as models made during that time period had rounded corners on the bedplate as opposed to the square ones of this model. That change came sometime in the 1880's.

Once the Professional Organizer (a gift from my DS and DDIL) comes to de-clutter my home, especially my small office/sewing room, hopefully, I can set up more machines and keep them set up full time. I hate putting up and getting out. When I get ready to sew, I want to SEW!!
