DH put in a double dead bolt so they gave up. We have to repair the door but nothing was missing. I feel like hanging the broken door from the dead tree in the front yard and painting a sign on the door - 'what part of thou shalt not don't you get???' but I doubt if they know how to read anyway much less care about 'thou shalt not' I should buy stock in a door company - we've had this happen multiple times since we have been living here. It is time to move. The house to move to is sssooo not ready - maybe we can camp in the garage, sleep in the truck or the yard or something. I'm also tired of getting mooned every day...
Geeze, Miriam your life is never dull is it? I think you were put where you are because you seem to handle it just fine, but maybe you are right - it is time to move! Mooned everyday? Only special people can handle life like you do - from the poison ivy - or whatever attacked you - to this? Girl you go!

Anamaria, I love the 24 you just posted in the Photos of Vintage Machines section! Congratulations! What a cute little machine and the decals look great! Have fun with that baby! I can't help you with any questions, I don't have a 24, but I bet Cathy can help!

yup mooned at 5am last time - they are on the streets at all hours - SIL parked his car out front a couple weeks ago and they ransacked it and left the doors standing open - the windshield on our van was broken out last summer - the list goes on - I'm thinking hard about conceal carry... when only the criminals are armed we are all in trouble - an armed society is a polite society... Maybe some NRA stickers for the back of my car... Oh and maybe I'll spread a few conceal carry magazines around by the windows. I'm thinking hard about those Christmas lights made with shot gun shells for the front. Maybe mow the lawn in camo clothes and combat boots with ... Nope I do not have a dull life in Indianapolis. I am thinking steady habits aren't a good idea here either. How's that for taking it in stride

Miriam, sorry to hear about your welcome home. I live in a nice area and our car was broken into last year...so it happens everywhere. Though we don't get mooned! Is it the same whacko? You should yell, "Nice tattoo!" just to confuse the h#ll out of him.

I will quit complaining about my 16" harp space! I have not had a problem with the 16", but sometimes I think it would be nice to have a larger harp space - you know the old thing about always wanting more, never satisfied with what we have! I need to just be thankful I have the 10' table and 16" head I know! You just chastised me into a little humble pie!

Nancy, I think you are very lucky to have a 16" harp machine....I have thought about getting a bigger quilting setup, but I would just be more crowded in my sewing room, so, have decided to keep what I have. I don't do any heirloom style quilting anyway....so, really no need. My quilting is more utilitarian...it holds the quilt together. Period. :-)

Chris, BarKeeper's Friend doesn't scratch stainless or chrome, so I can't see that it would harm your blackside finish. Test one small area first, anyway.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Charlee. I have terrific help...a whole bunch of people who know their jobs and do them very well. I was Understudy to the last Chair, so I sort of have a handle on everything. But I am most blessed to know that I have all those other people who really DO know what is going on!! LOL

Janice, thanks for the reply and info. May test a smal portion on the backside of one of the slide plates. Worth a shot and one does have some rust on the backside as well. ~ Chris
FYI: My container of Barkeeper's Friend says it is safe on glass cooktop stoves. Has anyone tried it here?

I've used Barkeeper's Friend on a toaster oven before, the outside white coated part (hard plastic and white enamel) to remove nicotine staining. (Worked great!) It did leave some very, very fine scratches in the plastic, but the white enamel on metal was fine. It wasn't anything I couldn't live with in that instance. I'd definitely test the black parts finish in a spot you won't see. If you are removing rust, I would think that the finish is not going to be in good shape under the rust and you may get down to the metal.

I would love to go if you were closer. With the price of gas and in need of new tires, I am not doing any road trips. I know it will be great. Remember to breath!
