I saw a Pfaff 130 in a sewing shop today. It is electricified and the shop wants $400. I am not interested but thought I'd mention it b/c I read all the time about what a great machine it it. Also had 2 FWs, one a long bed for $525 and the other a shortbed with more missing paint for $279 - I think. The badges were different colored. One was the normal color and the other was redder in a way - perhaps brass? Lots of nice vintage machines in the shop but lots of newer ones too. They did have the belt for my 128 along with a couple of feet for my 301 (yeah!) but no shuttles for the 128. They do offer the shuttles there but either too short or too long - felt like Goldilocks except none was just right. The shop owner's collection is also displayed - lots of nice machines. 4 FWs, all the colors and their cases, 3 or 4 shortbed 301s in all the colors plus at least 2 green Singers. He didn't have anything above a 500 series displayed. INterstingly enough, they had a "Singar" complete with Sphinx details but made in India. It was fun looking. ~ Chris

Miriam, I was reading "This Old House" today and thought of you funny post this morning. The title of the article is "personalize your front door". They were talking about painting it bright colors to make a statement- having the door stand out from others. I started laughing and thought about your statement....love it much more than a bold color. But after reading this post, I think you should paint your front door too!

We just painted the front door, resided the house and got the place looking pretty spiffy.... It was the worst looking ugly house in blocks maybe miles... baby poo gold and dark brown. It is a tri-level built in 1975 - nobody ever painted it - not even once since it was built - pretty bad shape. The home wreckers keep coming and bashing in the doors, first the front door, then the back door glass - glass all over the place... They didn't get in - DH believes in double dead bolts by a glass door. Now he put up a security door on the back - he's thinking about a security door on the front, too - so I asked if he was going to do bars on all the windows next... I should paint up the door they broke and hang it in the dead tree out front... I'm thinking about painting it up with 'all the drugs are flushed down the toilet come and get them' or 'this house is protected by armed guards and a pit bull one day a week - you guess which day' If I hang the door on the tree there would be glass go every where more so than it already is all over the place so I doubt if that is going to happen. I just want to know what they think they were going to get? We don't own a tv - just an old computer my son cobbled together.... we don't keep money around... there just isn't much I would imagine they would want... Maybe they want DHs old radio he got paint and drywall mud on? I highly doubt if they want sewing machines or fabric. DD says just leave the door standing open a few times and let them get what ever they think they want... it might be cheaper than replacing doors all the time and make it easier when we move if there is less stuff... We are talking about 5 doors so far. This is really getting old. When we had a dog they got in and then fed the dog a bunch of dog biscuits. Stupid dog. Getting another dog wouldn't have made one bit of difference. We were on vacation - a dog would have been with us or in doggie care somewhere.

Smoke from a motor is bad, I know. Any suggestions? Kinda smells like rubber possible. Motor runs some but not freely b/c the belt doesn't move freely to wind the bobbin. Does it need to see a motor dr?

if you don't fix the belt problem it could burn out another motor - motors aren't very expensive unless it is a motor specific to that machine

I toss motors; so, I can't be of any help to you if you want to keep the motor. Now, if it has an external motor, I say toss it and put that machine in a treadle. Treadling is very peaceful and relaxing.

OMG! Charlee, you hands couldn't possible shake like mine; otherwise, you wouldn't have been able to do the fine decorative work on the quilting motif that you did do. You did an excellent job!

The machine with possible motor issue is one I am hoping to donate to the charity auction. I replaced the belt today so it could be the new belt. WIll try the old belt and see what happens. Motor runs funs wjen bobbin winder is not engaged. AARRGGHHH!!
Update: still having issues!
