Miriam, It is just an early rotary, with round bobbin and hook. The Circle thing folds down and the case and bobbin can be removed. Then the hook is visible

My Lily is affectionate at 3 am in the morning and usually deposits a soggy wet styrofoam earplug somewhere on my body so we can play. Styrofoam earplugs are her favorite toy and best of all very quiet. But she is a love and has enriched my life if not necessarily the other cats' lives. She also plays nicely with our dogs most of the time and tolerates them playng with her.
