Oh by the way Charlee do you know where I can get a straight stitch glass insert for 8. mine is brass and really would like a glass one. Have no need for all the attachments because I will only make civil war dresses for Pat. She is a member of the Daughters of the Confederate States. I really like this machine and Charlie they are tough so don't be afraid to use yours.

Glenn, you are a gentleman!!

Ok, I'm back to my quilting. I'm attaching a binding using my Davis NVF. I will then finish the binding off with a decorative stitch from my new vintage Necchi Supernova Ultra in treadle; a first for that machine. I will be posting quilt later tonight or tomorrow.

BTW Glenn has a very cool quilt his grandma made. It is a history in red - looks to me like it is from a Native American point of view - Pat and I spread it out on the (sssshhhhh) floor while Glenn and Phil were working on the van. Pat doesn't know how old it would be. Glenn you have very cool stuff from your Grandma. My Grandma didn't do any more sewing than she could help. She was a teacher in a one room school house in South Dakota. She was well into her 70s when a tornado hit and took out the school. She salvaged what she could but the school closed after that. She would drive her car to the school and pick up the children on the way. She had to lite a fire and clean the school every day as well as teach. More than a few times she shared her lunch. Grandma always grew a HUGE garden, canned it and gave it all away. She kept an old treadle around just for mending and she hated it. She never did learn to do any hand work. My Great Aunt Bertha did that. She tatted - she would make hankies, sell them and give the money to missions. She tried to teach me to tat - yeah.... just watch my hand - yup and I can thread a sewing machine while it is running.

Hey Nancy, I know doggie bills may be there, but have you seen this one? A vintage, pfaff treadle is not an easy find! http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/art/2868793658.html Looks like a beauty.

The machines are tough, but the decals aren't, and mine has most of the bed decals! I worry about hurting them.

Let me look when I get home for Mike's email addy, he's the guy I got all of my inserts from....and I'll check...I may have an extra...

All you have to do is place a magnetic flat card over the bed to protect it while sewing

Glenn,

Love the drawers they look original.

Gotta a request for anybody here.

I have a Singer 9W-7 that came to me with a damaged base. The iron frame where it curves into the treadle plate pivots is broken. I have the parts they can be welded but it's gonna cost a small fortune.

The top of the cabinet and the curved veneer try under the head was damaged due to it's owners lack of, well lack of proper packing. He put it in the back of a moving truck and at some point hit a big bump. The weight of the machine did all kinds of bad things to the cabinet.

OK, I need the top part where the part the machines hinges attach too. I've indicated by arrows the damaged areas. In this pic you can just barely see the damaged holes. Underneath all the wood is shattered away.

And I need the center drawer's attaching or sliding or pivoting parts. I have the drawer with the cut outs for the accessories, but it was RTV'd to the front of the cabinet. All it's mounting parts are gone.

The circled part is the front with the cut outs.
On this one if I had good clear photos and measurements, I might be able to fabricate them. Don't know though.

If anybody has these parts, even if they need refinished and would be willing to sell them, I'd be thrilled. I do not have the wood working tools to recreate the bigger pieces. But I can refinish them and do minor types of repairs.

Can anybody help with this?

Joe

Janice,
There is no cost for TOGAs., unless you go out for lunch or dinner.
I would love to see you again.
