Misty, you remove that 'carrier' by removing the needle plate (two screws on the top of the needleplate - not under the machine.) Take out the bobbin and bobbin case first, of course. Wipe it off with SM oil and look for any rough spots. When you put it back, be sure the 'finger' fits in the groove on the bottom of the needle plate before you tighten the screws. There is a page in the user's manual that shows this this. If you don't have one, you can download a free one from sew-classic. I think ISMACS has one, too.) One little ball of compressed lint can cause all kinds of problems. I'm using Connecting Threads thread right now and it's so linty my 301 told me she needed an extra cleaning. The bobbin just wasn't happy.

I haven't seen Billy on here lately. You might try finding his latest post (Lostn51), or check for a blog.

But, DH is still kicking his butt for not buying it. So you can bet if it should be back come June when the Flea Market is on again it will come home with us. This is the same Flea M. we bought the 12K mother of pearl machine. Usually have lots of machines just have to carry so far back to your truck or car.
Hummmmm, just when I think I have things figured out someone throws a wrench in! I was going to ask Charlee if she ever saw the Sears written in any place but an unobtrusive place like on the back or in small letters somewhere. I had doubted Sears ever wrote 'Sears' across the arm of the machine! But, come to think of it I saw a saddle once with Montgomery Wards written all over that saddle. Shocked the heck out of me, as I didn't know they ever sold saddles, and I know they never made saddles. Anyway, I do not own a Kenmore or Wards machine, but I'd bet Wards and Sears are on the machines somewhere, just not across the whole head of the machine!

Thanks Trish! I swear there are always exceptions to everything!

There are manuals on line if you search.

Did you catch my posting about finding out that the 319 is capable of lowering the feed dogs after all?
No I did not catch that post. I have never tried to lower the feed dogs on my 319w, but it is nice to know that I can. It is a thumb screw similar to the 15-88! I don't see any reason to ever have to lower the feed dogs on my 319w as I piece and sew with that machine. I FM with my 15-88 or my Pfaff 1222e or my Pfaff Grand Quilter. It is nice to know she does lower her feed dogs, though! Thank you!

Candace I am glad your cat is all better; and, yes she is worth her weight in gold literally! My little Mowgli is also worth his weight in gold - probably worth a little more as he only weighs 4lbs and I bet your cat weighs a lot more than that!

Let us know if you find a hopping foot that works on the 319w! I will look too! Maybe Cathy has one?

Sar73, we need some information like what is the serial number on your machine. Do you know if the machine is a 15, 66, 127, or something else? Most of us can direct you to a free manual, but we need to know first what machine you have.

Hon, Billy don't come here since he has so many people's machines that he hasn't bothered to returned. He was on another quilting board this week, but he hasn't been on this one since February. There are many wonderful people here that can help you and won't lead you astray. I am sure they will post an answer for you.

Nancy, this is the pretty shamrock machine. That's a big MW on the arm and there is a permanent shiny ID on the motor that says Montgomery Wards, plus something underneath, too.
