She's moved on - she has dairy goats - Nelly had 2 new kids yesterday - male and female. She lets the girls name the males some kind of food name... Then she is keeping the female for the dairy so she is choosing the name for her. Her goats are like big nosy dogs and you don't want to get between them and her - they are pretty protective. I haven't seen the new kids yet. There are 2 about a month or so old - cute - she may need to get a spinning wheel for one with quite a lot of cool hair. Her next door neighbor has goats and Daisy slipped out one night - surprise... so they just left her up there for awhile so that one went early. DD has been making good cheese. I hope you all keep DD in your prayers, she is having a lot of problems with pain since the last baby (November). Her midwife is suspecting some very serious problems.

I went into JoAnn's today to pick up some thread so I can finish sewing some flowers. Couldn't help but notice the Singer FW commemorative or what ever it is called. I thought it would be a small machine since it was supposed to be a FW.... That thing is HUGE and ugly - did I take it for a test drive? NAW.

She acquired a very ugly old bird nobody could do anything with once. That bird took to her and my youngest son, especially my youngest son. He was about 7 or 8 years old at the time. That bird would ride on the back of the neck of his shirt - they went EVERYWHERE together. He was that bird's baby or something. You didn't mess with that bird. OK so MIL comes for a visit. The kids decide to introduce MIL to bird. MIL tells the bird she is ugly (true) so the bird says just as plain as can ever be, "YOU BI*** - F*** YOU" We had NEVER heard anything like it from that bird before or after that.....
Thanks for the story. Glad my cats and dogs can't say things like that to her. I'd love for some cleaning company besides my darling kitty who thinks she's helping by running off with the yarn. I could probably pay in fabric and vintage machines and the room would be clean lickety split. Mostly, it's me with DH occasionally adding in his 2 cents and DDs both avoiding me and the room.

Joe, have you used sewing machine oil. I gave the area I was working on a quick swip with Dawn dish detergent and quickly rinsed it off with a wet paper towel. That stuff is strong. Then I dried it and soaked area in SM oil. In 15 minutes, I started wiping it off. I found decals in areas I had no idea that the machine had them. Be careful with the detergent. I did silver one small area. My Redeye decals are not bright, but I felt it was time to stop. It took several days or weeks, but it looks far better than it did.

Thanks for correcting my error, I wasn't quite sure.

[QUOTE=BoJangles;5078396]Sharon, how long have you owned the Pfaff 1222e? That was my first - well second, but we can't count the first sewing machine I owned as it was a Brother that drove me nuts trying to get the tension right! But, I owe that Brother because if it hadn't been such a lousey machine, I'd have never bought the Pfaff, which I couldn't afford at the time! I still love that machine, but he gets used mostly to finish bindings now as I don't hand sew bindings anymore!

Nancy,
I bought mine used about 4 yrs ago. I love my Pfaff! Once I figured out all her quirks, we get along just fine. She
gets to sew bindings on and pieces my flannel quilts too. Originally got her for machine quilting due to the bigger throat than on my Bernina.

Cathy was over visiting tonight. She pulled out her collection of darning feet and darning springs.
We used a couple of them on my Singer 15-90 to see how well they worked. She has one that attaches to regular foot to make the foot into a darning foot. Here is the link to the thread with photos of the darning feet/springs: http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...ml#post5080631
