well, I did my good deed for the day today. I found a singer treadle on craigslist with the sphinx decals for 50.00. One of my friends asked me to be on the lookout for a good deal, so I sent her a message about it and she wanted it. Drove 2 hours and picked it up for her...now I get to babysit it for a couple of weeks until she'll get to town to pick it up. Needs a little bit of TLC but still worth the price paid. Cleaning, bobbins, and a belt and she'll be good to go. My husband actually wondered why I didn't keep it for myself...
I did, however get an email from the goodwill auctions that I won an auction I forgot I even bid on. Got a 1927 Wilson White Rotary Machine in bent wood case for 5.00. Cant beat that!

Just have to share. I have used Rain's knowledge and his video to twice fix a bobbin winder clutch that wouldn't disengage. Very informative video and great explanantions. I've said this on his thread and wanted to share it here too. The 66 handwheel was so much simpler to take off than the New Home Light Running machine but the 66 had seen some service at some point in its life and I'll bet that the other machine had not ever seen service.

yes I had to laugh seeing this portland,, most these sellers have never used a sewing machine... weds I'm picking up singer 16 - 188 it a 1923 walking foot, the lady bought it 5 yrs ago, and has never sewn a thing on it...

It really might help answer your question. I'm not familiar with your machine. But (I'm guessing now) it's a shuttle machine (?). If so then it's probably like my two New Homes. Here is a picture of the bottom of my Minnesota ~B~. You can clearly see the coil spring that holds the feed dogs against the bar that drives it.
I suspect yours should have something similar.
Oh, just ignore the "broken spring" with the arrow. I did that to show the broken spring I was trying to get a replacement for.
