Good point about how to use a HC 31. I never thought about it that way, but then again I don't have a horse ( I only have a cockatiel (my baby)). And my 31 is a treadle, so he's a real slow kind of guy.

I haven't seen your Hitachi in person, only pictures. I agree, he's real purrrrrty.

I just found a post from the main forum about them that says it's roughly 10.5" clear space. Not that I've ever seen one, mind you.

I always bite my nails waiting to be sure that the shipping is ok. I hope that got there safely Nancy. They guy over at FedEx loves your address. He says, 'You're always shipping something there...." He is a hoot. He also remembered that my sister helped me pack one up.

I am not out of control at the moment. I left one of the pretty gold colored New Homes at the resale store yesterday. It was another 15 clone, though very basic. Interesting note was the motor set up very high and the wheel ran off a rubber ring similar to a bobbin winder and the bobbin winder was on the back. Machine looked good with new wiring, but the cabinet was a little rough.

I recently aquired a Pfaff 229. After searching for information on it, I have come up empty. There are a lot of 230's out there and they look the same on the outside, but no info on the 229. This machine was a challenge. Motor and cabinet wiring was shot, sparks were coming out of the dirty foor controller, upper shaft was siezed and the stitch width controll was siezed too. I have it running great now though. This is a brute of a machine that can stroll or sprint with precision. I was impressed with it when I was finished with it. aww. spent the day doing errands. stopped in at the thrift store and did find a cool jacket and some flannel sheelts for rags, only two machines, both stylists, bith missing foot control, plates, feet, etc. left them there. sorry i missed a chance to see you! Laura[

I went to the Goodwill outlet and bought a bunch of fabric scraps - one was 7yds long. Others were pieces cut for a 9 patch and a few looked like binding. Then my DGD Miss G (the oldest) wanted to know if she could have them. AWE sure kid do me proud with that Spartan. I think I'm going to let her have the 7 yds for the backer then cut some more squares and let her go to it... sigh... Oh and I only had $5 out of pocket. Oh and I got 5 vintage patterns. WHEE!

And I sold that ugly orange MW electric sewing machine last night! I figured out a few things - it wasn't a bad little machine... just ugly.
