I have been working on a Montgomery Ward machine - it is molded 'Happy' in the bottom end of things. I have a clone molded 'Riccar' in the exact same places - go figure. I'm starting to look under them for that kind of thing. I may post some pics later today. Well if I remember.

Geeze, my "Rodney" is not a fluke? I can see why some of them were named certain names, but "Rodney" just seems kinda weird to name a sewing machine! My Rod was just incredulous that anyone would name a machine Rodney - now two different versions? How funny is that!!!!! I'd get that one too, if I were within driving distance!

Miriam, those wires looked melted together, who knows why. But, did you see the machine had been serviced in 1995? We are trying to figure out how to get it open so I can clean and oil inside?

Cathy, this machine is cast in one piece from the top to the front. In order to get the top off to oil the machine, we'd have to take off the foot pressure release knob on top? I don't know how complicated it would be to put it back? There is no other way to oil the thing? Have you dealt with a machine like this before? I am afraid to use it much without oiling/cleaning it? I can oil the bottom and inside the back door, but there is no way to get oil in the front or top?

I know certain rubber and plastic combinations do not mix well. Some rubber fishing lures in plastic tackle boxes melt the two together. I have seen the problem on some cords of my machines too. I don't know what the lethal combination is but is is a gooey mess. I had one machine where it had set for some time and there were puddles of that goop in the case and it was still pliable. ~G~

Rodney is befuddling and stubborn about getting his head examined. There is a knob under where sometimes a light goes but once that is off I not sure how to get that thing apart either. Maybe it pivots or something. Have you taken off the hand wheel and tried it?

Charlee, can you post a photo of the back of your Pfaff? According to Cathy, that funny looking thing on the top of my machine is for a grinding wheel. I think that is what she said! I haven't sewn with my machine. I have so many treadles that I don't want to take a chance messing up her decals - they are almost perfect. I noticed your decals are in great shape too? I wonder if either of these machines were even used! I decided that the old ladies with great decals need to be on display only! I have plenty of others to use. I have no attachments, no manual with my machine either. I love the look of your coffin top! I have such a soft spot for Pfaffs that I'd move one of my other machines out to the cargo unit if I found another treadle! These are the only two I have seen that are so purrrrty. I have my eye on a Pfaff 30 treadle, but it reminds me of my Singer 15-88 - very plain. I would be in heaven if I ever find a Pfaff hand crank!
